SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 11 – A Bronx man federally
charged in connection with
shooting a gun on East 167th
Street at 8 pm on June 21,
2023 was ordered released on
$75,000 bond in U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrates Court on November
15. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
SDNY Mag court.
Magistrate
Judge Robert W. Lehrburger
said the two prior convictions
cited by the prosecutor for
defendant Dante Petteway were
relatively old (2014 and
2020), and that Petteway could
live with his mother.
He had already
been taken to sign his bond,
and was in the courthouse
bathroom, when the prosecutor
asked for and got a 24 hour
stay, to consider
appealing.
Petteway
was brought back through the
courtroom by Marshals, and
back into the lock up.
On November 17,
after extending the stay, Part
1 District Judge Paul A.
Crotty ordered Petteway to
stay detained: "Judge Paul A.
Crotty, PART I. Bond Hearing
as to Dante Petteway held on
11/17/2023. The Court heard
argument on the government's
bail appeal and remanded the
Defendant." Inner City Press
will stay on the case.

On February 14,
the case was indicted and
assigned to Judge Analisa
Torres.
On May 10, his
Federal Defender wrote in that
"the Government has provided a
Pimentel letter and if the
Court denies the Bruen motion,
we will promptly schedule a
plea."
It is US v.
Petteway, 24-cr-80 (Torres)
