SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 22 – After a circus-like
civil case involving Guo
Wengui in the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York, which
Inner City Press closely
covered, here,
March 15, 2023 saw the
unsealing of a twelve-count
Indictment charging
HO WAN KWOK,
a/k/a “Miles Guo,” a/k/a
“Miles Kwok,” a/k/a “Guo
Wengui,” a/k/a “Brother
Seven,” a/k/a “The Principal,”
and KIN MING JE, a/k/a
“William Je,” with various
wire fraud, securities fraud,
bank fraud, and money
laundering charges. "
Not mentioned was
another, related arrest on
March 15, of Guo's chief of
staff Yangping Wang, aka
Yvette Wang. Inner City Press,
lone media in the Magistrates
Court, live tweeted her
presentment.
Jump cut to
January 9, 2024 when Guo and
Wang were arraigned on the
superseding indictment. It was
done on no notice; none of his
supporters were there. Inner
City Press was, and live
tweeted, threadette here
Jump cut again to
May 2, 2024 - Yvette Wang to
plead guilty on May 3: "ORDER
as to Yvette Wang: The Court
shall hold a change-of-plea
hearing for Defendant, Yvette
Wang, on May 3, 2024, at 9:30
a.m.(Signed by Judge Analisa

And, as Inner
City Press first reported, it
happened: "WANG, 45, of New
York, New York, pled guilty to
one count of conspiracy to
commit wire fraud and one
count of conspiracy to commit
money laundering, which
together carry a maximum term
of 10 years in prison.
As part of her guilty plea,
WANG agreed to pay restitution
of $1,400,000,000 and to
forfeit $1,400,000,000 to the
United States."

On May 21, the US Attorney's
Office wrote
in seeking to preclude
the fire issue
from the trial:
"To avoid a
confusing and
time-consuming
mini-trial that
lacks probative
value, the Court
should preclude
evidence and
argument
relating to the
fire at the
defendant’s
apartment
following the
defendant’s
arrest...., the
FBI announced
their presence
outside Guo’s
penthouse
apartment, but
did not make
entry for
approximately 15
minutes. Then,
while the FBI
was conducting
its search, a
fire broke out" -
