UN GATE, May 15 –
In the UN
system a big
wig from
Portugal is
being targeted
by the US. But
he's the wrong
Portuguese to
be targeted,
and few will
say it.
Just as
Antonio
Guterres, the
UN Secretary
General who bans
from all UN
premises the
Press which
questioned his
failure to
include his link
to UN bribery
firm China
Energy Fund
Committee in
his public
financial
disclosures,
through the
Gulbenkian
Foundation
from which he
took money,
give the UNOPS
job to a
Portuguese
crony, the US
guns for
IOM.
Amy
Pope, the
deputy
director there
since 2021,
wants the top
job, is
challenging
the
re-election of
her boss,
Director-General
António
Vitorino.
Big
Boss Tony
Guterres
doesn't like
it.
But
not wanting to
fight an
Administration
who has left
him more
unaccountable
than the bank
regulators who
coddled
Silicon Valley
Bank to the
end, Guterres
went
for
passive-aggressive
revenge.
From his
spokesman /
censor
Stephane
Dujarric, who
has refused
all written
questions from
Inner City
Press despite
an on-camera statement
that he would
answer, this:
"United
Nations
Secretary-General
António
Guterres
announced
today the
appointment of
Jorge Moreira
da Silva of
Portugal as
Executive
Director of
the United
Nations Office
for Project
Services."
Yes,
in Guterres'
UN, the
engineering of
corruption.
On May
10, Antony
Blinken said
in a
statement, "On
May 15, member
states of the
International
Organization
for Migration
(IOM) will
elect IOM’s
next Director
General in
Geneva. The
United States
nominated Amy
E. Pope for
this
leadership
role because
she has the
dedication,
experience,
and strategic
vision to
deliver on
IOM’s complex
mission with a
focus on the
safety and
dignity of
migrants."
Meanwhile,
while doing
nothing about
Guterres
banning
US-based Inner
City Press,
also on May
10: "Deputy
Secretary of
State for
Management and
Resources
Richard R.
Verma will
travel to New
York, May 10,
for meetings
with senior
leadership at
the U.S.
Mission to the
United
Nations,
including
Ambassador
Linda
Thomas-Greenfield
and Ambassador
to the UN for
Management and
Reform
Christopher
Lu."
Reform?
We'll have
more on this.
