As UNSG Guterres
Bans Press Is He Trying to Tap
Grynspan as Successor?
by
Matthew Russell Lee
UN GATE,
June 11 – After eight years of
failure as UNSG, Antonio
Guterres is trying to pick his
successor. First, this from
over the transom: " Rebeca
Grynspan took the helm of the
UN Conference on Trade and
Development (UNCTAD) in 2021
imbued with unbridled
ambition. She
immediately embarked on a
campaign to use the position
as a steppingstone to the UN
Secretary-General job in 2026
and started positioning her
close allies to set up the
necessary machinery for
that. As the
organization marks its 60th
anniversary this year, the
milestone serves not as a
celebration but as another
launchpad for Grynspan’s
shameless campaign for the top
UN job, with the tacit support
of UN chief Antonio Guterres,
expected to grace the main
event in Geneva in
June 12.
Sources within the UN in New
York described Grynspan as
Guterres’s “favourite”,
indicating that his
participation will serve as
his endorsement of her
premature candidature for the
top UN job."
Inner City
Press filled out a poll on
June 11 - the most important
qualification for any future
SG is refusal to censor as
Guterres has. Watch this site.
